ABOUT THE BLUE RIDGE ORCHESTRA:

The Blue Ridge Orchestra was founded by musicians whose passion for performing symphonic music of a high caliber brought them together. Amateur and professional, young and old; from walks of life as disparate as electrical engineering and librarianship, vet tech and physician, student and retiree, they share an enthusiasm for making music in one of its most exalted and invigorating forms – orchestral performance.

The orchestra is under the direction of Milton Crotts.  Milt has taught and conducted at Davidson College and UNC Asheville, where he currently directs the orchestra, the wind ensemble, and the game band.  With his doctorate in conducting and over two decades of symphonic experience, Milt has led orchestras around the United States and in Tokyo, and Guam.  Originally from Western North Carolina, Milt’s relationship with music extends beyond the podium and classroom.  His sense of adventure manifests itself in creative programming and a willingness to explore concert venues that will bring orchestral music closer to more audiences.
