The evening's performance will feature the music of female jazz musicians throughout the past century.     We're excited to have Rockell Scott with us at our featured artist.  Rockell has quickly developed a broad following in the region and has also garnered quite a bit of attention from her performances in New York City.

More about Rockell Scott

Rockell Scott is a native of Brevard, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Joan and William Bell (retired government agent). Rockell started her musical journey with her mother by playing piano at church at the age of nine. She frequently performed at local events. Her hometown highlights include singing for Former President Gerald R. Ford during a program President Ford spoke for at Brevard College

In February 1992, Rockell entered the United States Air Force as a vocalist for the Air Force Band of Mid-America stationed at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. During her tour of duty she performed before thousands of individual from the eastern seaboard to the Pacific Ocean

Rockell has shared the power of her vocal chords at Asheville's annual Bele Chere and Goombay festivals. She has performed at the North Carolina Democratic Party 44th Annual Vance-Aycock Dinner Gala and An Evening with Asheville Divas. She was also the featured singer at the 1st Annual Champagne and Diamonds Event: A Night with Ella Fitzgerald accompanied by pianist Pavel Wsolok. She has been featured at Isis Restaurant and Jazz Hall with Dr. William Bares and trio, jazz pianist Michael Jeffrey Stevens, was featured last year at The Jazz Standard in New York City with jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut and this past January was the vocal headliner at the “All That Jazz” jazz festival at the Omni Grove Park Inn with Dr. William Bares and the Outlaws.

Rockell is currently the church musician at Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church. She has been employed by the State of North Carolina for eleven years. The greatest honor for Rockell is being the mother of thirteen year old daughter Taylor and ten year old son Carter.
