Tickets: $15
The Asheville Tango Orchestra is a classic Sextet Tipico  formed in the fall of 2010 to provide live tango music at community gatherings in the South East.

"There is a wonderful Argentine tango dance community here in Asheville and we feel fortunate to be a part of it. Instead of milongas with only prerecorded music, we provide live music for many dances/milongas in the area. Our group consists of 2 violins, a bandoneĆ³n, an accordion, double bass, and the piano. We play classic tango music from the Golden Age era with a sprinkling of some more modern pieces by the likes of Astor Piazzolla and Osvaldo Pugliese. Typically at a dance (called a milonga) songs are played in groupings of three, called tandas. In between each tanda, a cortina (a distinctly not tango sounding song) is played to let the dancers rest and choose a new partner. What makes us special in that regard is we have cortinas specifically arranged/written by Michael Luchtan.".
