Take Two Jazz: BILL BARES and RICK SIMERLY Appearing Mon Sept 14th 2015 at 7:30pm

Tickets:  $12

Bill Bares’ “Take Two: Jazz Duets” at the White Horse Black Mountain is in it’s second year with considerable momentum and all new lineups. Each month, the innovative series pairs one the jazz community’s finest players with Bares’ piano, spotlighting the individual artistry and improvisational interplay of both musicians. Trombonist Rick Simerly is the featured guest for the next installment on Monday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m.

Simerly is a jazz artist currently teaching at Milligan College in Tennessee who critics have hailed as one of the finest trombonists working today, as borne out by the long list of top flight artists he’s toured and recorded with. He’s also in great demand as a clinician and soloist throughout the U.S.
Holding the concerts on Mondays, normally a quiet spot on the club scene, emphasizes that Take Two is “all about the music”, in Bares’ words, and the format ensures that every show is a unique experience. The performances have been recorded, with an eventual release planned to document the highlights.
