The ASHEVILLE ROCK ACADEMY Winter Concert Fri March 3rd 2017 at 7pm

Tickets:  $5

Forget Jack Black’s Hollywood version of the School of Rock. Asheville has the real thing. Under the leadership of Anne Coombs since 2007, the Asheville Rock Academy has been teaching aspiring teen guitarists, bassist, drummers, keyboardists and singers how to play various styles of rock as well as stagecraft.

The school’s premier band ,The Remainders, will kick off the First Annual Rock Academy Winter Concert at the White Horse Black Mountain on Friday, March 3 at 7:00 p.m., and all of the Academy’s bands will have a chance to show off their chops during a full evening of music.

The Asheville Rock Academy’s talented students have played some high profile gigs lately, including the main stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland last June. Academy bands have also played with Cliff Williams of AC/DC, bassist Victor Wooten of Bela Feck and the Flecktones fame, guitar shredder Joe Stump and American Idol’s Caleb Johnson. The future of rock is in good hand with these committed teen musicians and their dedicated teachers.
