For over thirty years Wayne Erbsen has been a professor of Appalachian Music at Warren Wilson College. One of the high points of his long teaching career has been having the opportunity to nurture talented young musicians who learn to play in the college’s bluegrass band. This year Wayne has an especially talented group of students that have coalesced into one of the finest bluegrass bands Wayne has ever worked with.

This group of outstanding musicians includes Mason Via on guitar, Sam Atwood on bass, Brady Lux fiddle, Kyle Gnadinger banjo, Anne Ramey Schwab on vocals and Wayne Erbsen on mandolin and fiddle.

Besides being formidable instrumental musicians, every member of the band is a fine singer, so the harmony singing in the group is as good as it gets. Even though The Warren Wilson College Bluegrass Band is composed of musicians in their early 20s, their brand of bluegrass music is at the core of traditional bluegrass artists such as Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers, Jimmy Martin, Reno and Smiley as well as more contemporary artists such as Allison Krauss, Laurie Lewis and Blue Highway.
