Local resident Paula Cordell is in the midst of battle with cancer.  The Swannanoa Valley is known for helping out those in need and Paula's friends and family are working hard to support Paula during this difficult time.   White Horse is happy to host a Big Benefit Event for this most worthy cause.

Her cancer journey began on December 1st, 2016 when she was diagnosed with stage IV colorectal cancer. After further scans, we were told it had spread to the liver. The doctor's told us that her cancer is not curable. It is a very aggressive form of cancer, by April it had spread to the skull.

Paula began chemotherapy in March, and was able to continue with that through July. In July, the chemo was showing no signs of improvement

Paula and her family  were able to get a grant that paid for her to receive immunotherapy. She did one round of that in mid August, and it seemed to work well and she was able to tolerate it. Less than two weeks later, a few days before she was due for her second round of immunotherapy she wound up in the hospital with back pain.

Doctors discovered that  she has a tumor on her spine, which is putting pressure on the spinal chord and caused paralysis of the the legs. She also broke her arm while in the hospital due to a tumor in the bone in the upper arm. With the cancer spreading aggressively, her main wish is to be home with her beloved dachshunds (she has 5) and her family.

We encourage you to come out to show your support for Paula and her family and to help defray the mountain medical costs.

A superb assemblage of musicians are donating their time and talent and you'll be treated to a great evening of music for a great cause.
