"An American Affair"

Tim Schwarz
Dr. Daniel Weiser

This concert features great American music performed by Tim Schwarz on violin/viola and Daniel Weiser on piano. Formerly known as The Upper Valley Duo, Schwarz and Weiser were the 1996 U.S. Artistic Ambassadors of music, which earned them a tour of eleven different countries in the Middle East and Asia. They have been described as "brilliant cultural ambassadors" and their programs as "a melodic revelation" and "an irresistible introduction to...American music."

They have re-united here to perform a special program of some neglected masterpieces by American composers, revealing the incredible diversity of influences that make up our American music. From Copland's "Hoe-Down" to Rebecca Clarke's passionate Viola Sonata to William Grant Still's blues-based Violin Suite to Charles Cadman's Violin Sonata inspired by a Native American melody and finally to a wonderful arrangement of Bernstein's "West Side Story," this is music that truly pulsates with passion, energy, and virtuosity.
