SMILE TRAIN Benefit Event Sun Nov 16 2014 6:00pm

Tickets:  $15

Smile Train is an international children’s charity with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate.

Millions of children in developing countries with unrepaired clefts live in shame, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing and speaking. Cleft repair surgery is simple, and the transformation is immediate. Our sustainable model provides training and funding to empower local doctors in 85+ developing countries to provide 100%-free cleft repair surgery in their communities.

Our good friend BARRY ALLEN has worked hard to organize this benefit for a most worthy cause.  In addition to helping raise funds to put smiles on the faces of children, you'll hear three of the best blues, blues/rock, soul, funk bands in our region.

Seasoned musical veterans combine to make soulful, creatively compelling interpretations of eclectic blues, funk, and soul---suffused with a rock 'n' roll sensibility. Original material fills out the always engaging...and danceable repertoire. High energy grooves; on-point musicianship; this Western North Carolina all-star cast promises a *FUNKY* good time for all! Club, festival, or private function.

Spartanburg’s instrumentalist of the year for 8 years and running, Shane Pruitt is a staple of the music scene in Spartanburg, SC. Touring relentlessly with The Shane Pruitt Band, and performing as a feature artist with such acts as The Marshall Tucker Band, The Lee Boys, Flannel Church featuring Duane Trucks, Jeff Sipe, Ike Stubblefield, Yonrico Scott and many more, Shane Pruitt has earned his mark as THE up-and-coming guitarist in the southeast through undeniable hard work.

The Shane Pruitt Band has released two studio albums since their conception in 2005, which have received such honors as Blue Breaker of the Week on The House of Blues Radio Hour, #3 top Blues release of 2010 as voted by fans on 88.7 WNCW (behind Derek Trucks and Buddy Guy) and #2 Regional release, also voted by fans on 88.7 WNCW. SPB has been seen supporting such acts as Robert Cray, Robert Randolph, Johnny Winter, Gary Hoey and many many more, but their development of their own devoted following has been what brings them to this special occasion at The Hub-bub Showroom in Spartanburg, SC.

The Red Dirt Revelators are a dirty blues roots band, and not in the manner of lyrics or distortion. The dirt is in the the grooves, Red Dirt grooves, with lyrics that reveal a story, a truth, and sometimes even an emotional Revelation. The Red Dirt Revelators are powered by the irrisistable "Big Deluxe" dirt engine of Jason Gardner on drums, and Clay Ford on bass.
The band gets their supercharger cut from the incredible guitar work of John Fenwick and the voice of Willie Shane Johnston; when he gets to revelatin' on harp and that nasty voice lights up he couldn't hold back the gasoline, even if he wanted to.  (Some of you maybe remember this band under a previous identity as WSNB - We Sing Nasty Blues)
