Wednesday Night Waltz on Wed Oct 19th at 7pm

Join us for a relaxing evening of waltzes

Tickets are only $8

(Lessons from 6:30pm until 7pm for only $5)

In contradance circles it’s customary to end the dance with a waltz as a kind of wrap-up to the evening that leaves everyone feeling good. Now imagine enjoying an entire evening of that mood.

Because playing waltz tunes is as much fun as dancing to them, anchor musicians June Advincula (piano) and Suzanne Hosch (flute and whistle) are opening the bandstand to other players who’d like to sit in.
Traditional and sheet music waltzes will be played, and printed music will be provided.
Interested musicians are encouraged to contact Suzanne Hosch at 828-215-3625 or, and to arrive at 6:30 so that dancing can begin at 7:00.

Waltz is a smooth progressive dance characterized by long, flowing movements, continuous turns, and rise & fall.
Graceful and elegant, Waltz dancers glide around the floor almost effortlessly.
Waltz is by its very definition a form of music in 3/4 meter. The first beat of each measure is dominant with a strong downbeat accent, while beats two and three are lighter. Characteristically, Slow Waltz music is sweet, melodic and fluid.
