 Brevard Woodwind Quintet

Fun Music for Quintet by Danzi, Ibert, and Arnold Plus a Romantic Piano Sextet by Ludwig Thuille

$18 in advance / $20 at the door

AmiciMusic is proud to present the debut performance of a new addition to the Asheville area music scene, the Brevard Woodwind Quintet. Made up of some of the finest performers in the region, these players first met while performing recently with the Brevard Philharmonic Orchestra and have decided to join forces in this fantastic combination of instruments—-flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French Horn.

This program will include some lighter music for Woodwind Quintet by Danzi, Ibert, and Arnold and then pianist/Artistic Director Daniel Weiser will join them for a powerful Romantic Piano Sextet by Ludwig Thuille, a largely forgotten Austrian composer who wrote some lush music in the style of Brahms and Richard Strauss

It is dedicated to performing chamber music throughout the Western North Carolina region in intimate venues such as private homes and non-traditional spaces, including bars, libraries, Churches, retirement homes, and more.

AmiciMusic, meaning “music among friends,” seeks to break down barriers between performers and audience through brief discussions of each composer on their programs and by promoting a relaxed and informal atmosphere at concerts in order to encourage new concert-goers to enjoy the energy of the performances and the spirit of community and camaraderie.
