Award winning musicians Susan Pepper and Ash Devine are joined by musician multi-talented Laurie Fisher for a special women led concert celebrating the music of the legendary Carter Family Band, and women in traditional 
music. The concert will feature authentic representations of Carter Family tunes, unique women centered versions of traditional ballads and instrumental tunes, as well as Appalachian influenced original songs.

Friday, June 7th at the White Horse in Black Mountain. 7:30pm. Tickets $12 ahead, $15 day of Appalachian-folk-Americana musicians Ash Devine and Susan Pepper, joined by multi-instrumentalist
 Laurie Fisher, come together with an aim to make old mountain singing resonate in the present day. The trio presents an upbeat, energetic show celebrating the musical styles of Maybelle and Sara Carter of the legendary 
Carter Family Band, unique traditional ballads sung and taught by women, and folk tunes from Appalachian traditions. The core of their show is a strong blend of harmony singing as well as a passion for women of 
Appalachian musical traditions. Their voices rise above the backdrop of their easy and traditionally styled banjo,  guitar, dulcimer, and bass.

Ash Devine:  Award-winning songwriter, folk-americana-country musician, and multi-talented humanitarian performance artist, and teacher Ash Devine is based in Asheville, North Carolina, originally from the Blue Ridge 
Mountains of VA. Ash Devine is an accomplished songwriter, instrumentalist on finger-style and Carter Scratch 
guitar and innovative original Ukulele playing. In 2015, Ash Devine starred as Maybelle Carter and musically
co-directed the production of "Esley: The Life and Music of Leslie Riddle" at the Parkway Playhouse. Recently 
seen on stage with NEA award-winning Appalachian folk artist Sheila Kay Adams, Devine performs an eclectic 
repertoire of both traditional and original tunes.

Susan Pepper: Susan, singer and old time multi-instrumentalist, has been digging into mountain singing 
traditions for the past fifteen years. She has a solo record Hollerin Girl, produced On the Threshold of a 
Dream, a compilation of her field recordings of traditional North Carolina ballad singers and she is co-producer 
of a new Appalachian music film, The Mountain Minor. She teaches music in her community in Jackson County, NC.

Laurie Fisher:
Musical perennial, Laurie Fisher has been performing in the region for the past 30 years.  A musical 
mercenary she performs on a variety of instruments. She also calls dances, teaches as the the 
neighboring Acoustic Corner, and has helped anchor 'Yule Fest' at the White Horse for the past 5 years
.  She is very glad to be joining Ash and Susan for this special show at the White Horse.
