A WONDERFUL COMBINATION OF INSTRUMENTS PLAYING A FORGOTTEN ROMANTIC MASTERPIECE BY WALTER RABL AS WELL AS SOME NEWER WORKS, INCLUDING A PIECE BY PHHILLIPS RHODES, A COMPOSER WHO NOW LIVES IN BLACK MOUNTAIN AND IS THE GRANDFATHER OF OUR YOUNG CLARINET PRODIGY.

In this program, we feature 16 year-old clarinet prodigy Aaron Lipsky, who has already won numerous competitions in the region and has participated in both the Brevard Music Festival and the Curtis School of Music summer program.   He will be joined by local favorite Franklin Keel on cello, a classically trained cellist and Associate Principal of the Asheville Symphony who also plays in the fantastic band, Sirius B.   Emmanuel Borowsky, a terrific violinist from Baltimore, will join pianist/Artistic Director Daniel Weiser in this all-star quartet.  They will perform a neglected Romantic masterpiece by German composer Walter Rabl along with some newer works by Oscar Navarro, Srul Irving Glick, and Phillip Rhodes, a wonderful composer who recently retired to Black Mountain and who is also Aaron’s grandfather.

AmiciMusic is a chamber music organization based in Asheville, NC and Baltimore, MD, dedicated to performing the highest quality chamber music in intimate venues and non-traditional spaces. We are committed to breaking down barriers between performers and audiences by setting up a more relaxed and informal atmosphere at concerts and through informative talks about each composer’s life before each piece is played.
