Bill’s longtime nickname had been Buddy and his middle initial was K, so The Buddy K Big Band was born. The band continues today under the direction of a board of directors and stays true to their original mission. The traditional instrumentation – five saxes, four trombones, four trumpets, full rhythm section, and vocals – brings back the true original sound of the era.
The band has performed throughout the Southeast including the Hendersonville,
N.C. Apple Festival, First Night in Charlotte and Asheville, the Big Band
Festival in Augusta, Ga., Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee, the Biltmore Estate, and The
Omni Grove Park Inn & Resort in Asheville, as well as community concert tours and
festivals in surrounding states.
