The Huffington Post said she has “an unlimited amount of potential” and is a  “superstar on the rise.”  Ireland’s Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival and London’s Troubadour nightclub gave her thunderous ovations.  Now, singer-songwriter Kate Vargas will bring her talents back to White Horse Black Mountain for a special 7:30 p.m. concert on Thursday, October 3rd.

            Noted for her eclectic songs, expressive and distinct voice and beautiful harmonies, Vargas is a New Mexico-raised, New York City-based artist whose recent album, For The Wolfish & Wandering, features songs with dark melodies, pop, folk and blues.  A gifted vocalist, guitarist, banjo player and bassist, she channels a surprising array of artists, from Tom Waits and 16 Horsepower to Lana Del Rey and K. Flay.

Vargas, raised in Albuquerque, N.M., southwestern culture and storytelling traditions that have inspired her lyrical themes, is joined by the Reckless Daughters, comprised of sister Lizzy Vargas (vocals, cajon) and good friend Lena Kaminsky (vocals).

White Horse Black Mountain (105 Montreat Rd.) is a 215-seat music and arts venue that has staged more than 2,500 concerts and other events during its 10-year history. It offers state- of-the-art sound, cabaret-style (table) seating, and bar/concession area that serves beer, wine, Kombucha, Shanti Elixers, soft drinks and snacks.
